Our heartfelt appreciation to《The Outdoor Shop》in donating 250 pcs of down jackets to HER Fund. HER Fund has already distributed the down jackets to the women in less funded and marginalized sectors. This is a meaningful gift to them which shows warmth and care in this cold winter.

HER Fund attended "The Outdoor Shop's Down Presentation Event" on 17th Jan 2012 with Concerning Group for Women Poverty, New Women Arrivals League, Hong Kong Association for the Survivors of Women Abuse (Kwan Fook) and Hong Kong Domestic Workers General Union. The groups' representatives received the down jackets from Mr. Jaycee Chan. Our Executive Director, Ms. Linda To shared the work of HER Fund with all the guests and presented our souvenirs to Mr. Jaycee Chan and The Outdoor Shop in appreciation of their kindness and generous support.

]]>HER FundNewsMon, 24 Oct 2011 00:00:00 +0800Workplace discrimination on young women research press conferencehttp://www.herfund.org.hkOur grantee, Association for the Advancement of Feminism (AAF), announced a research on "Workplace discrimination on young women" on 15th October. They found that more than 70% of respondents agree that the sexual harassment is serious in service sector. More than 30% of respondents expressed that they had the experience of sexual harassment by customers.

The Sex Discrimination Ordinance does not cover all areas which cannot protect young women workers in service sector.


Request by AAF:
1) Broaden the coverage of sexual harassment in "Sex Discrimination Ordinance";
2) Enhance the employers' responsibility to handle the sexual harassment cases;
3) Enhance the public education on prevention of sexual harassment;
4) Respect the young women workers in service sector and protect their rights.

HER Fund organized our first ‘Donor Visit’ on 24th September (Sat) and visited Jei Jei Jai (JJJ) Association, the first self-help and independent organization run by sex workers of one-woman brothels in HK. There were 13 participants including our donors, volunteers, voluntary teachers and supporters.

Two representatives of the Association, the Chair, Lily and committee member, Nancy shared with us their difficulties and happy moments at work. In this event, we found that both Lily and Nancy are very determined to lead their own way of living and committed in defending sex workers’ rights by sex workers themselves. about their way of living. They are very happy and willing to share their experience and feeling with the participants and the process was very interactive and inspiring.

HER Fund will be organizing ‘Donor Visit’ regularly so as to provide our supporters opportunities to know us and our beneficiaries more. Definitely, your donation is extremely important to us in supporting the work of women and girls in less funded and marginalized sectors.
