Outline | Hong Kong currently lacks legislation on gender recognition, leaving transgender individuals' identities unrecognized even after changing the gender marker on their ID cards. This creates inequalities and legal loopholes. It compromises transgender people's rights and leave them unprotected in these legal loopholes. Legalizing gender recognition on transgender individuals can address these problems. This project will recruit 10 young people to form a gender recognition advocacy working group. The group will receive training on self-discovery, enhancing advocacy skills, and improving public speaking abilities, as well as basic legal education to prepare for future public education activities and policy advocacy. Besides advocating to the public, the group will also facilitate communication with government departments and legislators to lay the groundwork for future legislative efforts. |
