HER Fund regards grant-making as an initiative than giving away money to the needy. It is a means to empower women and girls and to achieve social changes.
HER Fund treats its grantees as working partners and the regular meetings have served as a platform for parties involved to learn and grow together. We value their inputs and ideas on how we all can do better.
Projects bring positive impact
From Year 2004, HER Fund granted more than 70 projects for services and women’s rights work. Targets include single parents, home-makers, low-income women, new arrivals women, and young girls, etc. Here we have some videos that talk about how HER Fund’s grant-making brings positive change.
HER Changes – Young Girls anti-violence work
Tin Shui Wai, a deprived community in face of young people’s problems, e.g. taking drugs, fighting, etc. In order to prevent young girls from falling into sexually violence situations, HER Fund supports the project “Peer Support of Ambassadors' Training Project for Young Girls on Anti-Sexual Violence (Behold of Red Caps)” by Association Concern of Sexual Violence Against Women 480 Anti Sexual Violence Resource Centre in Year 07/08 and 08/09. Through training, the ambassadors spread the anti-sexual violence messages in an effort to decrease the number of sexual violence cases.
From the video, two ambassadors, Cindy and Lo Si, shared their feeling in our 5th anniversary celebration. From the training, they learned more about gender stereotyping, the effect towards women on sexual violence, related legal rights and regulations, case sharing and ways to deal with sexual violence. After the training, they went to Tin Shui Wai to organize community activities and outreaching visits to share the information and message with young girls in the community as well as encouraging teenage victims to seek for help. After joining this project, the two ambassadors have become more committed towards promoting anti-sexual violence work and women’s rights work.
